With the file module of EZCommunicator you can organize your files into folders and upload any file up to 2Mb in size and post to Facebook or Twitter. 


Once uploaded you can 

  • Share your files and folders with administrators from other schools or departments (Enterprise version). 
  • Add a link to a file or list of files in your notices or newsletters
  • Make any of your files visible as part of your public file library


Creating Folders

To create a folder start by hovering over the Settings icon on your page header. From the EZCommunicator settings menu choose File Folder. This displays the list (if any) of existing folders. Create a new folder by pushing the Add Folder button. 


A new page will appear, like the one below, where you can type the Folder name and description and choose whether to Share it with administrators at other schools and/or make the folder Public and visible on your website. Making it Public will display a list of any files you add to the folder. When done, pus the Save button.




Uploading, Posting and Sharing Files

Once you have created one or more folders you can begin uploading files. Press the Files option on the left navigation to display a list of already uploaded files. To upload a new one press the Add File button. A new page like the one below will appear where you can type the Title of the file; choose the folder where you want it added; type a description about the file; choose the file from your computer; decide whether or not to post it to social media and whether to share the file with other administrators.


If you choose to post the file to social media you can type the social media text to add with your post to Facebook and Twitter.


After you upload a file, you can get the URL for the file from the File List page. You can also upload a new version of the file without having to change the URL. This feature is particularly handy if you have a file that changes periodically, like a lunch menu or class schedule for which you don't want to have to change the URL on your site.



Linking Files and Folders in Notices

To link a file or folder-full of files into your notice you need to open the editor for your notice and use the Insert EZC Object Link icon from your toolbar. This is a red icon on the 2nd row with the letter 'C' in the middle.


Place your cursor in the editor where you want to insert the link and then press the Insert EZC Object Link icon. A pop-up dialog will appear where you can choose to insert a File Link (for an individual file) or a File List link (for all files in a folder).


Choose an Interface (Enterprise Version), and then the file name to which you want to link. Type the text you want displayed as the hyperlink to your file.


If you choose a File List link you can select a folder and all the files in that folder will be inserted as a list, with individual links to each.
