When you send a notice or newsletter and get a ‘soft bounce’ from the recipient’s ISP you can resend the message to just those recipients. Soft bounces are the email returns that come back to the Relatrix mail server for reasons other than a bad email address or full inbox.

All bounced email records are coded, and soft bounce records are coded with a 4 (hard bounces are coded with  5). That means anytime you look at your bounce log and see a bounce record with 4xx there is a chance, if you resend the message it will be delivered.

FYI… Our mail server makes three attempts to connect and deliver a message to a recipient’s inbound mail server. Soft bounces occur not because we couldn’t connect to the recipient’s mail server, but rather because the ISP chose not to deliver to the recipient.

The following page displays when you click on the bounce count from your notice list.

If you want to try re-sending those soft bounce emails, here’s how to do it -

  1. From your Notices / Newsletter list click the bounce number

  2. Use the Bounce Status drop down and choose 4XX

  3. Click on FILTER

  4. Select ALL 4xx records in the list

  5. From the Action drop down choose ‘Send Notice/s’

This will send the notice or newsletter again to the selected users and delete their associated bounce records.
